2040 Ventures was founded by Lance Wiggs and Chris Humphreys. For more than 12 years, we have invested in companies with real competitive advantages, strong leadership, and the potential to lead their global niche. Our investments include New Zealand innovators such as Quantifi Photonics, Timely, and Devoli.

Today we manage funds across technology and climate, run special-purpose vehicles, and offer co-investment alongside our funds. We take a long-term view, and hold companies through to real value creation.

Plenty of investment firms are named after their founders. Ours is named after a deadline. By 2040, we want New Zealand to earn its living differently, through a cleaner, value-based economy rather than a volume-based one. We want to have made a real difference to both the economy and the climate crisis.

That is why we help New Zealand technology companies grow into their global niches, and why we back companies taking on the hard-to-abate, emissions-heavy corners of the economy. The founders do the building. Our job is to bring the patient capital, and to hold on long enough for the work to count.
